Hello, 2023 it's me

Goodness, has it really been almost a decade since I started, and for that even posted on this blog? I'm surprised to see it's still up, I've dug up my old posts to rediscover who I was, or at least who I thought I was. I haven't had a chance to read through them yet, but just looking at the titles makes me realize how much time has passed. The memories of that time have become blurred, not like dementia, but in a way where you can't distinguish the significant from the insignificant. As time passes by, it seems one's memories tend to blur and condense into a vague sense of self, based on memories from a time that no longer exists.

Much has happened over the past decades. I think AI is about to take off in a big way, my present thoughts on the topic are prior distilled from conversations with my friends as follows:

As AI technology continues to rapidly evolve, it's becoming increasingly clear that it will have a major impact on our lives in the coming years. In just the past year, I've seen incredible advancements in AI, including the ability for a chatbot to write code simply by having a conversation with a user.

This level of technology, which was once thought to be years away, is already here and it's only going to get more advanced in the near future. In fact, I believe that we're on the brink of achieving human-level general intelligence with AI and that the singularity is likely to occur within our lifetimes.

Despite the massive disruption that AI will bring, it seems that many people are still unaware of its potential impact. The fear of job loss is real, as AI is already able to perform tasks like legal defense reviews, and it's only a matter of time before even more jobs become automated.

However, the good news is that this emerging AI-dominated landscape may actually benefit those with a broad range of interests and skills, as opposed to specialists. This is an exciting time to be alive and witness the evolution of AI, but it's also important to consider the consequences and ensure that we're prepared for the changes to come.

I can't say I'll write consistently, this has largely been an exercise in sentimentality and I just wanted to post something here to maybe share. Perhaps through this exercise, someone will stumble upon these musings and find them amusing at the very least.
An Idea I do have is perhaps filtering my old journals through chat GPT and posting some of them here, that will however require digging up old hard drives I haven't seen in years.

If you've read this far and ever just want to pick my brain about anything @Uchiha_Madala on Twitter is where you can find me.
